She is survived by : her children, James Schmitt (Michelle) and Cristen Martin (Mike); her brother Criss Kirchhoff (Lynn); her grandchildren, Mason (Holly), Tyler Schmitt, Kiley, Madelyn, Dylan and Andrew Martin; her niece Anne Kirchhoff (Nels Elde); her nephew Ryan Kirchhoff (Heather); her great-nieces, Hannah Elde and Giana Marini; and her great-nephew Chase Marini.

“Nancy and I went through high school together.... she was always kind and sweet, always having a good word for everybody. When I heard she was in a facility in DeSoto, I wrote her, found that she didn't even have much opportunity to use the phone so got her a cellphone... She was sweet, funny, and still very bright like always. She'd told me of her condition, but I didn't guess it was that close... The entire SMN Class of '61 mourns your loss, Nancy... you've left a big empty place.”
