He was predeceased by : his parents, John Bird and Ruby Walker Bird; his father-in-law Sam Coburn; his wife Arlene Coburn Bird; his sister Lois Bird; his mother-in-law Gladys Coburn; his brother Sammie; his siblings-in-law, Glenva Coburn and David Coburn; and his niece Maylene Dees.

He is survived by : his brothers, Gary and Roye; his grandchildren, Glenna Rae, Melony and Stacey; his brother-in-law Sammie Coburn; his nephew Lance Coburn; his children, Glenna Rae Alexander (Norm) of Leesburg, Fla., Melony McClure (Gary) of Assaria, Scott Bird (Sheryl) of Quinter and Stacey Wood (Scott) of Wichita; his great grandchildren, Avery (Kim), Abigail, Asher and Theodore Alexander of Lee's Summit; his grandchildren, Alden (Sarah), Isaac, Lillian, Benjamin, Jonah, Hannah Alexander of Salina, Emily (Nathan), Caleb, Micah, Levi Watson of Port St, Kesa, Lois Kael, Toben, Eleanor, Thatcher Easter of Andale, KS, Kimber (Chris), Madeleine, Miles Breeden of Wichita, Mark McClure (Lili) of Topeka, Max McClure of Poděbrady, Marissa (Jacob), Quentin Jones of Springfield, Michaela Bird of Kansas City, Stephen Bird of Austin, Texas, Matthew Bird of Overland Park, Sarah Bird of Overland Park, Valerie (Luis), Isabella, Samuel, Aurora Alicea of Benton, Angela (Jonathan), Jacey, Jordyn, Morgan Lee of Wichita, Olivia (Erik), Blakely Harbutz of Wichita, Aimee (Taylor) and Lawson Carter of Olathe; and his great grandchild Jorge Rodriguez.
