He was predeceased by: his wife Marjorie; his parents, John Kater and Frieda Kater of Newton; his brother Eldon; and his sister-in-law Esther Kater.
He is survived by: his daughters, Karen Black and Kristy Birneyand; his grandchildren, Jared, David Black, Kayleigh and Birney; his son-in-law Gordon Black (Kater); and his niece Teresa Cornett of Wichita.
