He was predeceased by: his parents, John Groot and Juanita Groot. He is survived by: his wife Karen; his children, Dan (Karen), Pam (Kevin), Lisa and Kim (Chris); his grandchildren, Steven (Maggie), Kate, Joshua (Abi), Andrea (Andrew), Allison (Nate), Jeremy (Blinda), Megan, Lauren (David), Anna and Joel; and his great grandchildren, Aubrey, Samuel, Autumn, Bryson, Raylan, Oaklynn, Jensen, Melanie, Bethany, Wyatt, Titus, Joanna, Jude, Mark, Mary, Miyah, Thaddeus, Phinehas, Charlotte and Asa.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 31st 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Shawnee Bible Church (12921 W 61st St, Shawnee, KS 66216). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 31st 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in memory of John Groot to his grandson serving in Papua New Guinea, Jeremy and Blinda Dunn.
