She was loved and cherished by many people including: her children, John Peterson (Brenda) and Christine Young (Lee) of Salina; her grandchildren, Travis, Erica, Jason, Michelle, Christopher, Erin and Rachel; her sister Marjorie (Neil); her son Micheal (Lisa); her parents, Eugene Cozad and Eva Cozad; and her husband Loren Neil Peterson. She was also cherished by her 19 great-grandchildren.

Joyce was a pivotal figure in the foundation and early years of the Salina Vortex Corporation.
