He was predeceased by: his parents, Noah Merritt and Jessie Merritt (McClaughry). He is survived by: his wife Kathleen; his children, Vicki Jones (Mike) of Plainville, KS, Gary Merritt (Brenda) of Hickman, NE, Keith Merritt (Michelle) of Broomfield, CO, Scott Merritt (Amber) of Omaha, NE and Karen Pestka (Sherwin) of Meridian, ID; his sister Carolyn Pruser; and his sister-in-law Shirley Merritt. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
Memorials can be made to the Parkinson's Foundation, the American Heart Association, or St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in honor of Dick, care of Ryan Mortuary, Salina.
