He was predeceased by: his parents, Gene Schmelzle and Mary Aziere Schmelzle; his brothers, Jack (John), Don and William; his brothers-in-law, Jack Severin and Jon Moore; and his nephew Daniel.
He is survived by: his former wife Laura Schmelzle; his children, Brian (Kim), Kirby (Kristin), Clinton (Dana), Loren (Amy), Carla, Wade (Beth) and Allen; and his siblings, Marjean Severin Moore of Seneca, Larry Schmelzle of Oneida, Charlie Schmelzle of Atchison, Dee Hudgens of Olathe, Jean Rasmussen of Topeka, David Schmelzle of Seneca and Pat Schmelzle of Seneca. He is also survived by 27 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
