With profound sadness, we say goodbye to John Lawrence Bennett of Sterling, Kansas, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Lawrence and Veda Beth Bennett (Copeland); his spouse Beverly Dolezal; his stepmother Helen Matthews; and his grandson Daniel Bortzfield.
He is survived by: his daughters, Cassie Colborn (Timothy) of Clearwater, KS and Mindy Bennett of Sterling, KS; his sisters, Bonnie Elliott (Galen) of Salina, KS and Barbara Bennett (Shannon Sandidge) of Denver, CO; his sisters-in-law, Sherry Lackey (Lowen) of Sterling, KS, Gayle Stucky (Allen) of Castleton, KS, Kaye Dolezal of Hutchinson, KS and Joyce Robinson (Rob) of Hutchinson, KS; and his grandchildren, Bennett Knight of Clearwater, KS, Alex Colborn of Andover, KS, William Bortzfield (Lori) of Hutchinson, KS, Shelby Ochs (Blake) of Great Bend, KS, Spencer Haltom (Emilie) of Sterling, KS and Brinna Haltom (Dane Wood) of Raymond, KS. He is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, December 6th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Birzer Funeral Home (203 N 7th St, Sterling, KS 67579). A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 6th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
Memorials may be given to Bennett Knight Education Fund in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Sterling.
