He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Carl and Hedwig Messerly (Krug); his siblings, Bob, Jerry Messerly and Ruth Phoenix; and his great grandchild Elijah John Trevino.
He is survived by: his wife Becky Waller of Sublette; his children, Debra Jacques (Kim) of Sublette, Don Messerly (Carol) of Edmund, Oklahoma and Dana Watson (Kim) of Sublette; his stepchildren, Michael Waller of Wichita, Rae Green (Reggie) of Nickerson, Monte Waller (Linda) of Clarksville, Jeff Waller (Wendy) of Dodge City and Jeri Burghart (Alan) of McPherson; and his grandchildren, Jeff Jacques (Nicole) of Marion, Jon Jacques (Natalie) of Lindsay, Adam Watson (Leigh) of Garden City, Alex Watson (Merideth) of Kansas City, Katie Short (Andy) of Goodland, Kari Brown (Kendall) of Clay Center, Caleb Messerly (Amy) of Oklahoma City, Zeb Messerly (Katie) of Yukon and Zach Messerly of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He is also survived by 12 step grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, with one to arrive; and 21 step great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 19th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Swaim Funeral Chapel of Sublette (115 S Inman St, Sublette, KS 67877). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 20th 2025 at 10:30 AM and from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A burial was held on Saturday, September 20th 2025 at 11:45 AM at the Haskell County Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Sublette Christian Church or the family in care of the funeral home.
