He was predeceased by : his parents, Pearlie Mae Sanders and Robert Wall Young; and his stepfather Jessie Sanders of Winona, Mississippi.. He is survived by : his brother Bennie Lee Young, Sr. (Rita) of Hinesville, GA; his stepbrothers, Jessie Lee Sanders, Percy Sanders of Chicago, ILL, Bennie James Sanders and Elmo Butts; his sister Betty Young of Topeka, KS; his stepsister Freda Mae Sanders (Unknown); his niece Trenada Lashone Young; his nephews, Bennie Lee Young, Jr. (Lisa) of Paulina, LA, Darrick Watkins (Monique) of Austin, TX, Xavier Damond Young of Topeka, KS, Draydon Kiplinger Young of Riceboro, GA and Jewell Jackson of LaPlace, LA; his aunt Barbara Quinn Sculark of Dallas, TX; and his uncle Herbert Lee Quinn of Clarksdale, MS. He is also survived by great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A funeral service was held on Thursday, April 18th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the New Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church (2801 SE Indiana Ave, Topeka, KS 66605). A burial was held on Thursday, April 18th 2024 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the Memorial Park Cemetery (3616 SW 6th Ave, Topeka, KS 66606).
