He was predeceased by: his parents, Lloyd Nicolay and Bertha King Nicolay; and his wife Karen Thomas. He is survived by: his sons, Lloyd Douglas Nicolay and Richard Scott Nicolay; and his stepchildren, John Bradley Harrelson and Shawn Herrick of Topeka.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church (4525 NW Button Rd, Topeka, KS 66618). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 5th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Saturday, September 5th 2026 at 1:30 PM at the Highland Cemetery.
