With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Derek A. Schmidt of Topeka, Kansas, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick John and Mary Ann Burghart Schmidt; and his brother Frederick Schmidt Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Trish of Overbrook; his son Brett Schmidt (Tarah) of Topeka; his siblings, Kurt Schmidt of Topeka, Franz Schmidt (Barbara) of Floresville, Karl Schmidt (Michelle) of Anaconda, Kyle Schmidt (Julie) of Lee's Summit, Missouri and Heidi Schiefelbein (Mark) of Topeka; and his sister-in-law Rose Schmidt. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
