She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry Martens and Anna Martens (Schweir); and her brothers, John, Loran and William Martens.
She is survived by: her husband Wallace C. Nelson; and her children, Ken Nelson (Ruth), Don Nelson (Sharon) and Kathy Schmidtberger (Toby) of Topeka. She is also survived by five grandsons, three granddaughters, seven great-grandsons, one great-granddaughter, several nieces, nephews.
