He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Bales and Edna Bales (Schlender); his former wife Joan Burck; his wife Susan Grieme; his grandson Derrick Schlobohm; and his sister Judy Bales.
He is survived by: his children, Darci Schlobohm (John Gunsaulis), Tanya Shaw (Jonathan) and Michael Bales (Catherine); his grandchildren, Hailey Schlobohm, Mary Shaw and John Bales; his great grandchild Freyja Parkin; his brother Don Bales (Renee); his stepdaughter Angie Maloy; and his stepgrandson Nate Titus (Donna Marquardt). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
