He was predeceased by: his parent Lola Polk; his siblings, Modean Pleasant and Percy Dawson; and his sons, Anthony DeWayne Dawson and Harold Glen Dawson.
He is survived by: his wife Ella Dawson; his children, Baniki Stringfellow-Dawson, Kesa Ray (Chevas), Venessa Phillips, Jeffrey Harlin (Rachel) and Xavier Dawson; his sister Modean Ezell (Donald); his grandchildren, LaPorsche, Glen, Bria, LeeAndra, Jordan, Jeffrey, Alyssa, Jada, Chevas Jr., Jaden and Jayla; and his goddaughter Ta'nia Gibbs. He is also survived by great-grandchildren.
Harold modeled his life off of community service, helping with the cleanup in Baton Rouge after hurricane Katrina, delivering food to those in need during the Covid-19 pandemic as apart of the Topeka Rescue Mission, and numerous other services within his own community.
