He was predeceased by: his brother Pete Blackmon; and his children, Kirk Blackmon and Sonya Adams. He is survived by: his wife Saundra Blackmon; his former wife Lucinda Blackmon; his children, Howard W. Blackmon Jr. (Barb), Lynne Austin (Frank), Alyson Stevenson and David McFoxx (Shatara); his siblings, Kat Montgomery, Nedra Jones, Micheal Ann Beasley and Kevin Blackmon; and his brother-in-law James Gilbert Sr.. He is also survived by his numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, November 15th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (2401 SW Kingsrow Rd, Topeka, KS 66614).
