He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis J. Heim and Flora E. Heim (Harr); his sister Mary Jo Lagers; his stepson-in-law Bill Morford; and his stepgranddaughter Kristin Morford.

He is survived by: his former wife Phyllis Plumberg; his wife Carol Rafferty Flerlage Heim; his children, Gregory P. Heim, Catherine Heim and Charles Heim; his stepdaughter Jeanette Grauerholz (Dana); and his sisters, Carolyn Eastwood and Sharon Crow.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Pottawatomie County EMS and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple Street St. Marys, Kansas 66536.
