He was predeceased by: his parents, Elton H. Schmidt and Elizabeth Schmidt (Potter); his sister Jane Schmidt; and his stepfather Ted Turner. He is survived by: his wife Diana Marie Parker; his children, George Bolling, Elizabeth Schmidt and Jake Schmidt; his grandson Jake Schmidt II of Topeka; his siblings, Judy Schmidt Toms (Bill) of Des Moines, IA, Janet Coleman (Roger) of Emporia, KS, Tammy Bruegger (Dan Bruegger) of Overland Park, KS, Jim Schmidt (Kathy) of Hendersonville, TN, John Schmidt (Patsy) of Lawrence, KS and Sonny Schmidt; his brother-in-law Darrell Schmidt of Lawrence, KS; and his grandson Casey. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
