He is survived by: his wife Peggy Abney; his children, Brenda Gonzalez (Gabriel), Barbara Abney, Mark Abney (Judith) and James Abney (Stephanie); his brother Leonard Abney of Rossville, Arkansas.; his grandchildren, Mark Abney Jr., Nicholas Abney (Amber), Hailee and Preston Abney; and his great grandchildren, Nixon and Aspyn Abney.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Midland Care Hospice House, 200 SE Frazier Cir, Topeka, Kansas 66606.
