He was predeceased by: his parents, Lueling B. Wakes, Sr. and Argenta Wakes; his wife Audrey Wakes; his son Ronald Wakes, Sr.; and his siblings, Melvin Wakes, Cleveland Wakes, Theodore Wakes, Virginia Ford and Rebecca Herrington.
He is survived by: his son Steven Wakes (Michelle); his sister Katherine Wakes-Artis (Glendora Wakes); his grandchildren, Dytra Hales (Michael), Ronald Wakes Jr. (Latasha) and Kentrell Wakes; his great grandchildren, Victoryea Hales, Da'Mykel Hales and Nova Wakes; and his great great grandchild Ahlanee'Esquibel. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
