He was predeceased by: his parents, Julius Gerstenkorn and Cecilia Boor Gerstenkorn; and his brother Richard Gerstenkorn. He is survived by: his children, Lisa Gerstenkorn (Brian O'Neill) of Gardner, Kansas and Daniel Gerstenkorn (Mary Beth Medford) of Shawnee, Kansas; his siblings, Kenneth Gerstenkorn (Vickie) of Haslet, Bernice Glissman (Dick) of Centralia and Raymond Gerstenkorn (Karen) of Topeka; and his grandchildren, Annabelle and Oliver.

Memorial contributions for Melvin may be made to Lisa Gerstenkorn, sent in care of the funeral home, and will be designated at a later date.
