With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Michael Hurla of Topeka, Kansas, who passed away on May 16, 2025 at the age of 85. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Michael Hurla to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his mother Mary Hurla; his son Bradley Hurla; his granddaughter Morgan Kottman; and his siblings, Charlotte Hurla, Margaret Montgomery, John Hurla, Steve Hurla (Shirley) and Charlie Hurla.
He is survived by: his father Anthony Hurla; his wife Judy; his children, Michelle Shea (Brian), Christine Kottman (Jerry) and Brian Hurla (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Samantha Shea, Sara Shea, Jacob Kottman, Kelsey Kottman, Alex Hurla, Amanda Blaylock (Andrew), Ty Hurla, Zach Hurla and Lucas Hurla; and his great grandchildren, Caden Morris, Addison Morris, Braxton Blaylock and Baby Blaylock.
Visitation was held on Thursday, May 22nd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM at the Calcutta Catholic Church (2014 NW 46th St, Topeka, KS 66618). A rosary was held on Thursday, May 22nd 2025 at 6:30 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, May 23rd 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Mother Teresa Catholic Church Building Fund in honor of Mike's lifelong commitment to service and community, in care of Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614.
