He was predeceased by: his parents, Gaetano Arace and Marguerite Arace; and his sisters, Laura and Sharon. He is survived by: his wife Karen; his children, Michael (Ruthanne Arace) of Kansas City, Jennifer of Olathe, Angelica (Sean Sherman) of Olathe and Nicholas of Olathe; his grandchildren, Hope, Chealsie, Desiree, Debbie, Ethen, Bryleigh, Madeleine, Peyton and Julian; and his siblings, Carol of Topeka and John (Terri) of Topeka. He is also survived by numerous niece;, nephews; grand-nieces; and grand-nephews.; and many dear friends.

“Nick was a good friend to me. One of my fondest memories about him involved a rainy day on Gage Boulevard. Nick showed me that he could drive with the right-side tires in the gutter (with considerable water in it). It made an impressive wave that reached beyond the sidewalk. We came on a newspaper boy from behind. He didn't hear us until the last second, when he turned just in time for the wave to hit him all over. HIs hair was slicked back, and his mouth dropped open with surprise.”
