He was predeceased by: his parents, John Edward Bernica and Ann Cecilia Galas Bernica. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Ann McGarity; his children, Renee (Matt), Ryan and Andrew; and his grandchildren, Alden, Kennedy and Jameson Hurley.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM at the Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home (2801 SW Urish Rd, Topeka, KS 66614). A rosary will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 at 6:30 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Mater Dei Holy Name Catholic Church (1114 SW 10th St, Topeka, KS 66604).
Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Care, in care of the funeral home.
