He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Johnson and Velma Johnson of Topeka, Kansas.; and his stepmother Hildred Johnson. He is survived by: his former spouses, Loretta Johnson (Stonebreaker) of Topeka and Alan Johnson (Jennifer) of Topeka; his great grandchildren, Brett (Jaimie), Zachary (Vanessa) and Jacob Johnson (Suzanna); his wife Christine Strimple; his stepdaughters, Scarlet Nilges of Ottawa, Brenda Bettge of Kansas City and Susan Schmutz (Jay) of Overbrook; his grandchildren, Garett Nilges, Debbie Fagan (Gerad), Greg Nilges (Janae), Kylee Nilges, Brandon Bettge, Ralie Bettge, Hunter Schmutz and Amanda Young (Calvin); and his siblings, Sheryl Mullen, Larry Johnson (Donna) of Topeka and Glen Johnson (Marie) of Debham.
Visitation was held on Monday, May 12th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Dengel & Son Mortuary - Crematory (235 S Hickory St, Ottawa, KS 66067). A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, May 13th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church of Ottawa (203 E 4th St, Ottawa, KS 66067).
