He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil Hanks and Stella Hanks; his siblings, Virgil Jr., James Harv and Mitzi Ann; his son Robert Lee Hanks Jr.; and his former wife Darla Kay Bonner.
He is survived by: his daughter Pamela Hanks of Topeka; and his sisters, Nancy Hysung of Coeur d'Alene and Alta Curtsinger of Waco, Texas..
