He was predeceased by: his parents, Dean Covert and Lula Covert (Moberly); and his wife Ruth "Ruthie" M. Hefner of Covert's Wrecker Service. He is survived by: his children, Vernie Covert, Jr. (Sharon) of Topeka and Darla Covert (Jeff) of Bonner Springs; and his brother Jerry Covert (Teresa). He is also survived by four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
