He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Garrison and Mona Lamberson (Raines); his stepfather Clay Lamberson; and his brothers, James Garrison, Ted Garrison and Donnie Howard.

He is survived by: his wife Wilma O'Neal; his children, Donna Sullivan (Tim) of Wichita, Kansas, Jody Garrison (Patty) of Paola, Kansas, Joel Kent Garrison (Sue) of Spokane, Washington, Dianne Williams (Jimmy) of Eva and Jeremy Garrison of Ulysses, Kansas; his siblings, Jack Garrison (Sondra) of Hudson, Ohio, Gail Reed of Wheaton, Missouri, Cynthia Morgan of Jonesboro and Carol Adams of Oak Grove, Arkansas; and his siblings-in-law, Richard Whitmore of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Vivian Bohannon of Cookeville, Tennessee. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
