James Chandler Harries Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of James Chandler Harries (Wakeeney, Kansas), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on December 8, 2025 at the age of 77. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though James may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those James touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Myron Harries and Ruth Harries (Mary); and his wife Roberta "Robie" Harries (Hetzel).
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 11th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Schmitt Funeral Home - WaKeeney (336 N 12th St, WaKeeney, KS 67672). A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 12th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the same location. A committal service will be held on Friday, December 12th 2025 from 11:15 AM to 11:30 AM at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hays Humane Society or The Generations Church in WaKeeney and sent to Schmitt Funeral Home, 336 N. 12th St., WaKeeney, KS 67672.
