He was predeceased by: his father Ivan Hinkle; and his siblings-in-law, Pat Hinkle and Dan Switzer. He is survived by: his mother Viva Hinkle (Dexter); his wife Mary Trude; his children, Angie Toews (Duane) and Robert Hinkle (Amber); and his siblings, Steve Hinkle and Cheryl Switzer. He is also survived by four grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
A memorial fund is established to KSDS or Morrison House of Salina.
