He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Edwin and Lauretta P. Cheney; and his brother Glen Cheney. He is survived by: his daughter Victoria M. Cheney (Jeremiah) of Chapman, Kansas.; his wife Phyllis M. Cheney of Chapman, Kansas; his sons, Braden J. Cheney (Amy) of Topeka, Kansas and Shawn M. Cheney (Jackie) of Paola, Kansas; his grandchildren, Zen Cheney, Sloane Cheney, Cole Cheney, Grace Cheney and Tripp Woods; his stepgranddaughter Katelyn Deever (Michael); his great grandchild Myra Cheney; his stepgreat-grandchild Draven Deever; his siblings, Gary Cheney (Julia) of Scott City, Kansas, Judy Thomas of Scott City, Kansas and Karla Sharpe of Scott City, Kansas; and his brothers-in-law, Harlan Withington (Vonnie) of Rogers, Kenneth Withington (Laura) of Colby and Dale Withington (Debbie) of Oberlin, Kansas. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Throughout his journey, he remained hopeful and purposeful, always desiring that others with Parkinson's could learn from his experience, gain understanding, and find encouragement through what he shared.
