He was predeceased by: his parents, Patrick Higgins and Mary Higgins (Welcher); and his siblings, John Higgins, George Higgins, Patrick Higgins, Elizabeth Dobos, Margaret McCurnin and Anna Kidd.
He is survived by: his wife Deanna; his children, Michael P. Higgins of Osage City, Kan., Patricia E. Higgins (Mark Schmitz) of Broken Arrow, Okla. and Kelli Moore (Graig Moore); his grandchildren, Miranda and Matthew Moore of Pittsburg; and his sisters, Mary Kedzerski, Agnes Panasewicz, Rita Hackler, Frances Dugan and Helen Siwek.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 28th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home & Crematory - Weir (104 W Main St, Weir, KS 66781).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Big Brutus, Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to preserving the mining heritage of Southeast Kansas.
