We announce the death of Janet Elizabeth Whaley of Wellington, Kansas, who passed away on September 3, 2026, at the age of 86. Janet will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Otha "Jack" Armstrong and Alma M. Armstrong (Froelich); her husband John Richard Whaley; and her sisters, Geneva Bell, Linda Jefferson and LaVonne Slivocka.
She is survived by: her children, Tommy Edwards (Janell) of Wellington, Dianne Miller (Harvey) of Wellington and Richard Edwards (Amber) of Van Alstyne, Texas.; her grandchildren, Lauren Chevalier (Cryprian), Katelyn Davidson, Chase Edwards (Lakin), Johnnie Ahrens, Katie Baker (Hunter), Jarrod Miller (Christie), Tabitha Thornton (Jimmy), Jessica Brown (Michael), Tyler Miller (Celia) and Logan Campbell; her great grandchildren, Parker, RaeLynn, Trendon, Brynleigh, Karson, Cannon, Conleigh, Jaxon, Beaux, Duke, Lindley, Nora, Kip and Olivia; her sister-in-law MaryAnn Hennig; and her stepchildren, Ken Whaley and Staci Youngwirth.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Cornejo Funeral Home (1030 Mission Rd, Wellington, KS 67152). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
Memorial contributions can be given in her name to the Wellington Senior Center, 308 South Washington Avenue, Wellington, Kansas 67152.
