Paul Farmer wrote a sympathy message

“Bruce was a doer, not a sayer. He also expected that if you professed to be a Christian, you should prove it by your actions. He "encouraged" me to babysit at various homeless shelters during an extremely cold winter. I met other silent Christians there and had time to sit and visit with the men in the shelters. Some of them were on the streets to save money until they could bring their families in from out of town. There were some that just checked out of society. I'm indebted to Bruce.”
