He was predeceased by: his parents, Nicholas "Chic" Smarsh and Teresa Smarsh; and his sister Jeanette Bud (Eric). He is survived by: his siblings, Tom Smarsh, Nick Smarsh, Joan Boswell (Lynn) and Mary Ketzner (Clyde); and his children, Pam Cranmer, Brenda Kilian (Mike), Marty Smarsh (Sheri), Jodi Smith (Kevin) and Stephen Smarsh (Christy). He is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren.
A rosary will be held on Sunday, September 27th 2026 at 5:00 PM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church (13015 E Maple Grove Rd, Mt Hope, KS 67108). A Mass will be held on Monday, September 28th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Monday, September 28th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery (4813 NE 150 Ave, Cheney, KS 67025).
