He was predeceased by: his parents, Leander Lyon and Maybelle Lyon; and his siblings, James, John, Joe, Jerome, Mary and Janette of Anderson, SC..

He is survived by: his wife Mary K. Lyon; his children, Gwendolyn Rasmussen (Don), Audrey Lyon, Teryl Brooks and Bradley Lyon (Endee); his brother Gerald Lyon of Anderson, SC; and his grandchildren, Shawna Grambo, Stacy Woolley, Lauren Anderson, Kelsey Anderson and Corey Lyon. He is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild.
