He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Thompson and Susan Thompson (Crum); his sister Stephanie Vance (Thompson); and his grandson Jackson Lee Putter. He is survived by: his wife Deanne Thompson (Cox); his daughters, Carrie LaVoy (James), Lisa Vedock (Tray), Martha LeJuerrne (Rick) and Denise Putter; his grandchildren, Jake, Carleigh LaVoy, Claire, Grace, Sophie, Olivia Vedock, Bella, Caroline, Joe LeJuerrne, Thomas, Nathan and Paige Putter; and his brother Tommy Thompson.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rose Hill United Methodist Church, the Rose Hill Historical Society, and Dunlap Cemetery.
