He is survived by: his wife Mary Ann Richards; his children, Bruce Smith (Gail), Chad Smith (Rebecca), Launa Shirley (Brian), Joseph Smith IV (Katherine), Charles Smith (Katrina) and Regina Smith (Nathan); his grandchildren, Michelle (Jared), Danielle (Brock), Elizabeth (Jacob), Nicholas, Madelyn, Kaitlyn (Benjamin), Zachary, Ryan (Abby), Isabeau, Jacob, Isaac, Sophia, Cayanne, Elijah, Samuel, Joseph V, Elleanor, Noah and May; his great grandchildren, Allison, Maggie, Olivia, Walter, Vivienne, Charlotte, Ila, Rowan, Elliott, Lainey and Bonnie; and his siblings, Carolyn Rooney (Kevin) and Steve Jacobs (Kim). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary of Wichita.
