He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert H. Johnson and Julia Johnson (Hoyt); and his siblings, Laverne, Larry, Marvin, Robert, Bessie and Bonnie.

He is survived by: his wife Marge; his sisters, Lila Latham of Battle Creek, MI and Sylvia Parmelee of Fort Pierce, FL; his children, Scott Johnson of Winfield, KS, Steve Johnson of Aurora, CO and Beth Nordick of Park City, KS; and his stepchildren, Pam Bowman of Phoenix, AZ and Harold Butterfield of Columbia, MO. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
