Michael leaves behind cherished memories for friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Michael’s life was marked by connections and experiences that touched those around him. Though he is no longer with us, the moments shared, the laughter, and the support he offered will continue to resonate. All who knew Michael will carry forward his memory in their hearts.
He was predeceased by: his parents, William Paul Schmitt and Patricia Dougherty Schmitt; and his brother Billy Schmitt. He is survived by: his children, William "Bill" Schmitt (Valerie) of Texas and Cora Schmitt (Melissa) of Kansas City; his brother George Schmitt of South Carolina; and his grandchildren, Lochlan Schmitt of Texas and Adelaide Schmitt of Texas.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Affinity All Faiths Mortuary (2850 S Seneca St, Wichita, KS 67217). A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Kansas Veteran Cemetery (1208 N College St, Winfield, KS 67156).
