He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Simpson and Bertha Simpson; his wife Ruth Lorraine Simpson; his sons, Michael Ray Simpson and Brad Bishop; his brother Gary Loren Simpson; his daughter-in-law Amy Dawn Simpson; and his brother-in-law Larry Paul.
He is survived by: his children, Mark Simpson (Julie) and Jan Bishop (Denise); his daughter-in-law Kathy Bishop; and his sister Patsy Paul. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with the Kansas Firefighters Museum, 1300 South Broadway Street, Wichita, Kansas 67211.
