He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Ekstein and Mary Ekstein (Parker); and his siblings, Alfred, Ronnie, Daniel and Mary Rose Ekstein.
He is survived by: his significant other Elmyra Lambrecht; his children, Teresa Owen (David), Ramona Schippers, Roy Jr. Ekstein (Perla) and Sheila Crabtree (Jeff); and his grandchildren, Angelica, Caterina Owen, Jesse, Erik Schipper, Roy III, Raymart, Reuben and Samantha Ekstein.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church.
