He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Chester and Verla Naomi Parnell (Davis); his wife Veda Josephine (Arndt); his siblings, Harold, Verl "Corky" and Nadene; and his stepdaughter Vicki Acre.

He is survived by: his children, Deb Franz (Lowell), Steve Parnell (Liz), Phil Parnell (Janise) and David Parnell (Alexa); and his stepchildren, Kim Tate (Ronny), Kay Selman (Ed), Alan Packard (Cindy) and Dean Packard (Gwen). He is also survived by 100 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with: Church Missions of Ridgepoint Church, 8000 West 21st Street North, Wichita, Kansas 67205 or to Walsh Baptist Church, 103 East Maplewood Street, Walsh, Colorado 81090.
