He was predeceased by : his parents, Ambrose Melton and LillieBelle Melton (Marshaw); his son Shawn Troy; and his siblings, Freda Harrison, Shirley Fritz, Allah Hadley, Cheerie Huffman, Marion Goodwin and Bert Melton.

He is survived by : his wife Barbara Melton; his children, Tyler Troy and Candi (Shawn Doggett); his grandchildren, Rachel Doggett, Laura (Rhys Powell), Joshua Doggett, Caleb Doggett and Nathanael Doggett; and his sister Judy (Jack Ackerson).
