He was predeceased by: his parents, John Hawkes and Freida Harris; his wife Daisy Louise Burris; his brother John; his sister-in-law Virginia; and his grandson George Daunt Harris, III (Trey).
He is survived by: his children, Debra Rolland (David) of Williamsburg, Linda Westhoff of Ottawa, George, Jr. (Tina) of Williamsburg and Gary (Karen) of Ottawa. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
