She was predeceased by : her parents, William F. Caldwell and Nina May Caldwell (Smith); and her siblings, James Caldwell and Marian Plumb. She is survived by : her husband Bruce Wells of Winfield; her grandchildren, Cory and Casey Smith; her daughters, Ellie Gates (Ben), Marin Hodges and Meredith (Brett); and her sister Frances Semler of Lee's Summit, MO..

A memorial has been established in Billie's name for Irving Elementary School.
