He was predeceased by: his parents, James Mitchell Monroe Hays Jr. and Margaret Janice Hays (Ely). He is survived by: his spouse Gene Anne Kelley; his children, Loron Hays (Bobbie) and Alyssa Hill (Mike); his sister Marilyn Strong (Mike); his sibling's children, Jeff Strong and Emily Strong; his grandson Steen Hays; and his great-niece Olivia Strong.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cowley County Humane Society; donations may be left in the care of the funeral home.
