He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Paul Ulbrich and Helen Smelser Ulbrich Dobbs; his sister Paula; and his pets, T. J., Maverick and Annie K..
He is survived by: his wife Gloria Ulbrich; his daughter Crystal Kochenower (Brett); his granddaughter Sylvia Kochenower; his siblings, Ernie Ulbrich, Josh Ulbrich and Linda Ulbrich; and his siblings' children, Mark Gordon (Brandi) and Kristy Gordon (Karly).
Visitation was held on Wednesday, July 9th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Miles Funeral Service (4001 E 9th Ave, Winfield, KS 67156). A funeral service was held on Thursday, July 10th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In honor of Rick's lifelong love for animals, memorial contributions may be made to the Cowley County Humane Society, where he adopted several pets over the years that brought him great joy and comfort through all phases of life, and the Kansas Veterans Home Donlon Resident Trust in honor of the extended family he created during his time there. Contributions may be made through Miles Funeral Service.
