It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Walter Thurman in Winfield, Kansas, who passed away on February 4, 2025, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his siblings, Bill, Clyde, Paul, Teddy, Mary Jones and Nelda Thurman; his son-in-law Dave Willis; and his grandson Derek Day.
He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Biddle; his children, Teresa Thurman-Zuck (Greg) of Hill City, SD., Susan Willis of Sioux Falls, SD. and Walter C "W. C." Thurman (Pamela); his grandchildren, Jamie Kerr (Stephanie) of Pierre, SD. and Charity Day of Rapid City, SD.; his great grandchildren, Taylor Kerr (Ciera Paige) of Albany, MO., Dylan Kerr of Pierre, SD., Quinton Day, Patrick Day, Ryder Willis and Madyson Willis of Sioux Falls, SD.; his great great grandchildren, Aliyah Kerr and Aiden Kerr; and his siblings, Ed, Marvin, Harry, Jimmy Thurman, Eva Harvey and Wanda Rapier.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cowley County Humane Society, donations may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield.
