He was predeceased by: his parents, John William Ferguson and Pauline Cox Ferguson; and his siblings, Larry Ferguson and Virginia Cyrus. He is survived by: his close friend Joy Brown Ferguson of Ashland; his children, Chandis "Chan" Ferguson (Larra) of Russell and Susan Ferguson (Clint Wellman) of Ashland; his siblings, Lucille Hardeman of Catlettsburg, Christine Blanton of Rush, Beverly Ritchey of Ashland and John R. "J. R." Ferguson of Grayson; and his grandchildren, Maci Ferguson, Skylar Ferguson, Mia Ferguson and Savana Ferguson. He is also survived by his loving wife of 63 years, the love of his life, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
